Reality star Kim Kardashian is one of the trendiest and most fashion-forward starlets of our time. Women of all ages have found themselves emulating Kim Kardashian’s hair styles in 2011. From shorter styles to longer lengths with luxurious extensions, Kim’s gorgeous mane has certainly made an impact on what women consider today’s hottest hair styles.
I absolutely love Kim’s look on the February 2011 Glamour magazine cover. Instead of rocking her usual middle part, her hair was parted to the left, creating a cute side bang that slightly covered her left eye. Styled in long, loose, wavy curls with lots of volume, her hair color appeared to have been softened to a lighter dark brown instead of the black color that she normally sports.
Kim ventured into the music world in March of 2011 and shot a music video for her single “Turn It Up.” In the music video, Kim wore her hair braided almost identically to the classic hair style that Bo Derek made famous in 1979. In my opinion, this style wasn’t very flattering for Kim but I applaud her for trying something new and different.
In June of 2011, Kim chopped inches off of her famously long hair. Kim announced the change via a popular social networking site, Twitter, and debuted the look on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show. Although the new look wasn’t a drastic change, it still made headlines. I adore this hair style for Kim. Falling right below her shoulders, the style was still sleek but didn’t appear as high-maintenance as some of her other looks.
So far, Kim Kardashian’s hair styles have certainly made an impact on style in 2011. With bad hair days few and far between, I have a feeling that Kim’s mane will be making news for some time to come.
