Lady Gaga made the runway her new stage as she walked in designer Marc Jacobs’ show during New York Fashion Week on Thursday.
Hours before the top designer debuted his autumn/winter 2016 collection, news broke that the Applause singer would be one of his models, so when Gaga stepped onto the catwalk at the Park Avenue Armory venue, all eyes were on her.
The pop star followed behind model/reality TV star Kendall Jenner on the runway, wearing an oversized coat adorned with fur sleeves, high platform shoes, gothic make-up and platinum blonde 1920s inspired hair.
Her last-minute appearance comes days after Jacobs outfitted her for the Grammy Awards on Monday, when he created a stunning embellished blue gown for the red carpet as well as another custom outfit for her David Bowie tribute performance during the ceremony.
“I was getting ready to do the Grammys, and I told him that I would do it,” Gaga tells Vogue just before hitting the runway on Thursday of her decision to model for the designer. “It’s really wonderful that he brought me in as one of his models… I told Marc I was disappointed the shoes weren’t taller.”
Gaga insisted she didn’t want the spotlight to be on her during the show, but rather focused on the pieces her designer friend created for the high-profile event.
